CASE STUDY
The shepherd's lantern | scair usice
Project Overview
Scáir Uisce is Ireland's first independent cask share community for Irish whiskey — a brand built on the idea that great whiskey and great branding shouldn't be locked behind a premium price tag. The brief was a brand film rooted in Celtic legend: a shepherd, his sheep, and his collie dog, whose tail lights the way home when they're lost in the hills — inspired by founder's own collie. Not a paddy-cap, generic-Irish approach — something contemporary enough to travel internationally, since Scáir Uisce's strongest export market is Singapore, not Ireland.
The shoot
Filmed across two days: the Wicklow Mountains at blue hour, capturing the landscape and the reveal at the heart of the film, and Garden County Distillery, where the interview and cask footage were shot. Product beauty shots of the bottle itself were captured separately in-studio. The reveal structure is deliberate — the film opens as a story about a man and his dog, and only gradually becomes clear it's about the whiskey he made for her.
the reception
The film premiered on YouTube and was later played on-screen at a whiskey tasting event in Killarney. Multiple attendees at the event asked who had made it within 24 hours — several estimated the production had cost significantly more than it did. That gap between perceived scale and actual investment is exactly what independent brands like Scáir Uisce need from a film: something that makes a small, ambitious company look like it belongs on a much bigger stage.
Client Feedback
“Where do I start? Attention to detail? Skill? Finesse? Pegasus has very quickly become our right arm. Caimin is intuitive and on the ball, he sees the bigger picture, he knows how to tell the story. There's not many times in my life that I've come across pure, undulterated talent, this is one of them. I highly recommend Pegasus if you want to give your business the right push, in the right direction, in a crowded world of mediocre content.”
